Basalt Formation Pro is a Blender Geometry Nodes asset in OmniKit’s utilities collection.

DROP ON ANY MESH: replaces it with a procedural hex-column formation. Enable Conform to Input to ray-project the footprint onto a mesh below Ray Height in local XY; missed rays remove columns. Height, terraces, dome, slope, gaps, growth and seed; procedural basalt/moss/wet PBR auto-applies. Local units. Max 80x80 columns. Nearest hex packing is artistic, not fracture physics. Geometry first output; Bypass restores input.

Its exposed inputs include Bypass, Columns X, Columns Y, Column Radius, Joint Gap, Round Footprint, Footprint Radius. Review the control reference below to plan a suitable setup.

Source and setup notes

Source node name: OMNI - Basalt Formation Pro

Collection: Environments/Basalt Formation

Structural inspection used Blender 5.2.0 LTS. Other releases and render engines require separate checks.

How to approach this asset

  1. Check the source notes for the expected mesh, curve, field, shader or World context.
  2. Start with a disposable scene and a suitable input. Inspect required object, material or collection inputs.
  3. Adjust one documented control at a time. Evaluate the result before using it in a production project.
